USEF Modifies Jump Height for 2019 Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals to 1.15m
The US Equestrian Jumping Sport Committee has approved modifications to the 2019 Platinum Performance/USEF Show Jumping Talent Search Finals based on recommendations from the Talent Search Task Force. After assessing the 2018 Talent Search Finals – East and West and hearing feedback from key constituents, the following changes will take effect in 2019:
- Finals fence height: 1.15m (previously 1.20m)
- A trot fence, not to exceed .90, may be permitted prior to the first gymnastics exercise
- Judges will have the ability to develop their own gymnastics courses with the approval of the designated Talent Search Finals Technical Delegate.
Qualifying criteria for the 2019 Talent Search Finals will remain the same, and the Talent Search Task Force will continue to make modification recommendations to the Jumping Sport Committee for consideration regarding the Talent Search Finals qualifying classes in future years.

Applications Now Open for the Inaugural USHJA 1.40/1.45M Platinum Jumper Championships
Applications are now open for the Inaugural USHJA 1.40/1.45M Platinum Jumper Championships. Like other existing Jumper Championships, this Championship offers professional, amateurs and junior riders currently competing at 1.40/1.45M the opportunity to compete in team and individual competition, and the chance to qualify for the 2020 USHJA Platinum Masters Training Session lead by top national and international industry experts. The Platinum Jumper Championships for Zones & 8 will be held at the Hipico Sante Fe Horse Show in Santa Fe, NM from July 24 - 28, 2019. Applications Now Open for the 2019 USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships
USHJA has opened applications and released the dates and locations for the 2019 USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships, offering athletes an opportunity to qualify for a USHJA Gold Star Clinic. the USHJA Zone Jumper Team Championships are offered for junior and amateur riders at 1.10/1.15m, 1.20/1.25m, 1.30/1.35m levels. The Championships are held by zone and consist of both team and individual competition. The Championships for Zones 7 & 8 will be held at the Hipico Sante Fe Horse Show in Santa Fe, NM from July 24 - 28, 2019. Dates and Locations Announced for the 2019 Zone HOTY and Stirrup Cup Championships
The dates and locations have been announced for the 2019 USHJA Zone Horse of the Year and Stirrup Cup Championships. The USHJA Zone HOTY and Stirrup Cup Championships are opportunities for members competing for year-end awards in these programs to earn Championship Points, which contribute to their overall year-end standings. Zone 8 will offer a Stirrup Cup Championship at the NMHJA Fall Festival Horse Show in Albuquerque, NM from September 27-29, 2019. The Horse of the Year Championships for Zone 8 will take lace at the Arizona Seasonal Finale II Horse Show in Scottsdale, AZ from November 20-24, 2019. Applications Now Open for the 2019 Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund/USHJA Emerging Athletes Program
Applications are currently open for the 2019 Lindsay Maxwell Charitable Fund/USHJA Emerging Athletes Program. This program is open to riders ages 25 and under, and includes participation in one of 10 regionally based training sessions with top clinicians and stable managers. A 3-foot session will be offered at select sessions this year. At the conclusion of the EAP Regional Training Sessions, 16 riders and a number of stable managers will be selected to participate in the National Training Session.
Applications for the following Sessions are due by April 15, 2019:
- Great Southwest Equestrian Center with Cynthia Hankins/Nanci Snyder (Katy, Texas), June 10-14 (3-foot session being offered)
Applications for the following Sessions are due by May 13, 2019:
- Los Angeles Equestrian Center with Jim Wofford/Anne Thornbury (Burbank, Calif.), June 26-30
- HITS Balmoral with Julie Winkel/Colleen Reed (Crete, IL), July 8-12
- Sonoma Valley Stables with Cynthia Hankins/Nanci Snyder (Petaluma, CA), July 17-21 (3-foot session being offered)

Registration Now Open for the 2019 USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge, presented by The Plaid Horse
Interested participants ages 21 and under can now register for the 2019 USHJA Horsemanship Quiz Challenge, presented by The Plaid Horse. Participants interested in being eligible for HQC Nationals must register and complete both levels of testing by September 1, 2019. Participants who score 80 percent or higher on the level 1 quiz are invited to take the level 2 quiz. Those who score 90 percent or higher on the level 2 quiz are eligible for selection to the Horsemanship Quiz Challenge Nationals. The National competition offers $4,000 in grants to continue horsemanship education. More information can be found HERE.
