Memorial Planned for Claudia Wilson
A memorial for long -time CHJA Member Claudia Wilson will be held at Sundance Stables, the former Silverwood Farm that Claudia owned, on October 2 at 2 PM. Claudia‘s daughter Yvonnie will be present and will be scattering her ashes at the farm. Claudia passed away peacefully in Butte, MT on March 6, 2025. Claudia ran Silverwood Farm, a small boarding stable in Arvada for over 40 years. She retired from the Colorado School of Mines after working in Data Processing for 25 years. Claudia moved to Whitehall, MT in May of 2019 to be with her daughter.
Claudia was very active in CHJA in the 1980's through the early 2000's. She served on the Board and used her masterful Data Processing skills to maintain CHJA's membership and point keeping databases and published and mailed out the newsletters. Claudia also worked as a Show Secretary for many of the CHJA horse shows.
Claudia was very successful showing non-standard breeds in the Hunter/Jumper world. In the 1960's - 1970's, she owned and showed several Saddlebreds. Most notably was her registered Saddlebred gelding "Top Honor" that she showed in the Open Jumpers. She had a Morgan mare "Just Enough" that was shown in the Hunters. Her favorite horse was "Mc.Joe" a registered Anglo-Arab gelding. She successfully showed Mc.Joe in Hunters, Jumpers and Equitation.
