Application Deadline Approaching for 2018 Vital Horse Show Staff Award

This wonderful award recognizes two horse show staff members (one from each coast) for their behind the scenes work to make horse shows successful. Just when you thought things couldn't get any better, the Colorado Hunter Jumper Association is hosting a locally rated horse show at the Colorado Horse Park Sept. 22-23. This isn't just any old horse show, though. It will be in an all-Classics format with prize money, special awards, extra points and more derby-style courses.

CHJA wants to congratulate and wish good luck to all Colorado junior riders heading to IEA Nationals April 20-22 in Syracuse, NY. Everyone worked hard all season and we’re excited to watch them represent Colorado in New York this year. Amberlee Wentz - 2017 Keiri Kaneps Award Winner

Professional rider Amberlee Wentz was honored to win the Keiri Kaneps CHJA Professional Hunter Rider award, especially because it meant she had been selected for it by the CHJA.


"I knew Keiri as a junior and young professional," Amberlee said. "I always loved watching her! She was a gifted rider that could always get the best out of her horses! She always had a smile and kind words for both horses and humans."



Mary Dunahay passed away following a battle with pneumonia. She is survived by her spouse, Patrick Dunahay; her daughter, Jordan (Brandon) McCarty and her son, Cade Dunahay; grandchildren, Madeline McCarty and MacKenzie McCarty; siblings, Beth (Jim) Jackman, Holly (Frank) Hutto, Reed Harmon and Jill Harmon.


Mary was born in Hobbs, N.M., and moved to Littleton when she was four. She graduated from Arapahoe High School in 1975 and attended Mesa State College in Grand Junction. She married Pat in 1978 and became a mother not long after.

Several Bylaws and Rule Changes were passed by the Board of Directors at their October meeting. An amendment to the Bylaws will streamline the process for making rule changes which are required to be in compliance with USEF/USHJA/Zone 8 Specs. Those changes can now be recommended by the Rules and Specs Committee and approved by the Board without going through the normal rule change process.
