AMBERLEE WENTZ WINS THE KEIRI KANEPS AWARD

Amberlee Wentz winner of 2017 Keiri Kaneps Award

Professional rider Amberlee Wentz was honored to win the Keiri Kaneps CHJA Professional Hunter Rider award, especially because it meant she had been selected for it by the CHJA.

"I knew Keiri as a junior and young professional," Amberlee said. "I always loved watching her! She was a gifted rider that could always get the best out of her horses! She always had a smile and kind words for both horses and humans."

2017 was an amazing year for Amberlee ("My best year as a professional for sure!" she noted.) The competitions that stand out most for her would have to be the Pre-Green Incentive Finals and Derby Finals in Kentucky. Davidson, her pre-green horse, was spectacular and ended up 23rd in the Nation. In November, "Davidson" won the Texas Pre-Green Incentive Super Series Finals , which was definitely the biggest win of her career. He was awarded both High Point American-Bred Horse and High Point Horse in the Texas Super Series

Her mount "Verity" preformed beautifully at his first Derby finals, but had a cheap rail in the first round. As a result, the pair went on to the derby challenge where they finished up 11th.

This year, Amberlee also won the Central Mountain Region World Championship Hunter Rider for Developing Professionals, Professional and Handy Hunter. She also finished up 9th in the National Derby standings. It was a spectacular year in the show ring!

Amberlee's 2018 season is already planned out. She will be competing in Texas at all three weeks of Pin Oak in March, then will be at the Colorado Horse Park for the spring and summer shows. After that, they then plan on heading back to Kentucky for the Green and Derby finals.

"I am so grateful to have won this award since it recognizes a professional who exemplifies the integrity, horsemanship and beautiful riding skills that made Keiri so special" Amberlee added. "I am looking forward to the show season and feel so blessed to have such lovely horses and great owners!"
