GEOFF TEALL TO SERVE AS CLINICIAN FOR CHJA MEMBER CLINIC

Author, judge and renowned horseman Geoff Teall will be the clinician for the free CHJA Member Clinic on July 25, 2016 between Copper Penny and the first week of the Estes Park Festival Horse Show.

“We are so excited to have Geoff oversee this year’s clinic,” said Jen Duffy, chairman of the Member Benefits Committee. “He is so well-known for the horses and riders he has trained over the years. We are really lucky to have that caliber of clinician here to work with CHJA members.”

Geoff Teall

Geoff grew up foxhunting in upstate New York and didn't start showing until he was 16. After his abbreviated junior show career--in which he rode with the likes of Gordon Wright and George Morris--he took a job with the Jacobs family, managing their foxhunters. When the Jacobs decided to add a few shows in here and there, the die was cast and Geoff embarked upon a path that would lead him to the top of the showing world where he won numerous prestigious classes and awards.

He currently owns and operates the Montoga training facility in West Palm Beach, Fla. He also is co-founder of the American Hunter Jumper Foundation, an R-rated USEF judge and has held several leadership positions within USHJA.

As usual, the CHJA Member Clinic will open up an application process to select demonstration riders at various levels. There will be opportunities to audit the clinic and participate in a judge’s forum over dinner. Details will be available in the next six to eight weeks. Watch for another email or follow CHJA on Facebook or Twitter for the most up-to-date information.

WANT TO BE INVOLVED BUT DON'T KNOW HOW? HERE ARE SOME GREAT WAYS TO HELP CHJA

You know you want to do something - something that will connect you more deeply to the Colorado Hunter Jumper Association - but you just don't know what. We have three great ideas for you to consider and of course, there are more out there if these don't fit. Contact any board member for more information on how you can be involved with CHJA.

SPONSORSHIP

CHJA sponsorship provides you with access to a largely affluent and active population that is engaged not only with horses but other animals and interests. Does this sound like an audience you'd like to reach?

The Association has a wide variety of sponsorship opportunities for you and your business. From  becoming an Annual Sponsorship of all Association events to underwriting a breakfast or lunch at one of the Estes Park Horse shows and almost anything in between, we are sure there is a sponsorship opportunity that will meet your specific needs.

Contact Laura Walsh at sponsorship@chja.org or log onto the CHJA website for more details.

NOMINATIONS

How about considering becoming a member of the CHJA Board of Directors? While many of our Board members are professionals, we always are looking for dedicated amateurs and friends of the sport to serve and bring a fresh perspective. Board members are expected to attend the roughly 10 meetings per year and serve on at least one committee. You also must have been a member in good standing on or before April 15, 2016 to be eligible to run. Self-nominations are encouraged.

Board members Jenny Alsberg and Sarah Watson are heading up Nominations this year. Please contact them with questions or to express your desire to run.

JUNIOR COMMITTEE

Not an adult? Don't worry! The Junior Committee, headed by Devon Hussey, has some great plans for the 2016 show season and is looking for more active Juniors representing all levels from any barn to get involved. Contact Devon for more information.
