REBECCA JOHNSON WINS BETTY WEBER SERVICE AWARD

The Betty Weber Award is presented annually to the CHJA member who provides ongoing, impactful service to the Association. We asked this year’s winner Rebecca Johnson a few questions about her thoughts on being presented this important award.

Rebecca Johnson

CHJA: How did you feel when you learned you were receiving the Betty Weber Award?

REBECCA JOHNSON: I felt so honored by my colleagues on the Board. The CHJA Board consists of busy, hard-working professionals who serve voluntarily. They give freely of their valuable time, effort and knowledge to the organization and to be chosen for the Betty Weber Award by such a group was deeply appreciated.

CHJA: The Betty Weber Award is for ongoing, impactful service to CHJA. Why do you think it is important to serve CHJA?

RJ: Serving CHJA in any capacity, either as a board member, a business or parent volunteer is what makes CHJA possible, and CHJA in return, serves its members well. Picture our wonderful State of Colorado minus CHJA…not good. CHJA has been instrumental in creating a fabulous show circuit in and of itself as well as being the most vital link to providing information about other industry events such as the A show circuit, clinics, local health alerts, and well as a hosting a fun social media presence and of course, CHJA Medal finals and the fabulous year-end awards. Additionally, the Colorado Hunter Jumper Foundation provides scholarships, emergency relief funds, and member support. What a great organization that we are lucky to have!

CHJA: What has the association meant to you on a professional level?

RJ: On a professional level, I am grateful that CHJA has a show circuit that offers defined, appropriate, safe, and fun classes for every level of rider. The plethora of shows and clinics offered means that my clients have a myriad of events to keep them goal oriented and have fun while remaining affordable and time-efficient.

CHJA: What about on a personal level?

RJ: For me personally, my best friends are some of my colleagues. So many dedicated horsewomen and men. Every professional I know is in this business for love, not money. People who have a passion in life are lucky and some of the most entertaining people around. Work hard, play hard, loyal and fun loving friends. But best of all? So many fabulous horses … I really, really love horses.

Congratulations to this year’s winner of CHJA’s Betty Weber Award.
